Shemot

This weeks Parsha is 57 pages in this book! I'm not sure if we can cover it all in five days. I have some good ideas to tie in the crafts with it to reinforce the lessons. There is a good middot lesson about team work and generosity in the first chapter and I really want to cover the part of the
midwives before we get to the standard review of Moshe's birth. Hopefully I can post a picture of the craft tomorrow.see you then!

Shavuah tov!

As the new week begins I am invigorated and looking forward to a successful week. I hope that with some extra planning we can enjoy more fun and less frustration. Tzipi struggles with some issues ( still trying to figure out) and I hope I can add a bit more fun so she can find motivation.

Challah

This week's challah

First day of school (Parsha Bereshis)

This was back when we started Parsha Bereshis. We learned about the solar system. Zalman was only a few weeks old so we did basic skills. As he matures I add more and more depth to our learning.

Vayechi

I meant to add this picture to the last blog post. We are finishing the book of Bereshis (genesis) this week and we have had a lot of fun learning about Yosef (Joseph) the past few weeks. There is more information about Yosef than any other person in the Torah. We will start Shemot (exodus) next week. I wasn't with it enough to do many activities but this time I'm determined to add more hands on activities. Both Zee and Tzipi need to practice sequencing so I think we will use the story of Moshe (Moses) to work on this skill.

Final Parsha

This is the book we study the weekly Parsha with. We love learning Torah from these books. They are books that break down each lesson into solid pieces that are repetitive for memory.

Our name

Our first project for our school was to come up with our name. We brain stormed and came up with EMET (truth) Academy. We strive to learn the truth about life. We don't want to follow the status quo. Azariah even came up with a slogan, we do mitzvahs here. I thought that was cute.

Welcome to our Home School!

I've been homeschooling since October 2012 but with computer issues (as well as nursing an infant) it was a bit challenging to post regularly to a blog. I will try to catch up on what we have done and keep up with our regular schedule.

We frame our school week with the Torah Portion (Parsha).

Let me introduce our team.
